Crafting excellence through cylinder engraving.
In this process, an image is engraved onto a cylinder, and ink is transferred to the printing material through a modular system with small cells of varying depths.
Key advantages of rotogravure printing include:
- rapid production,
- precise ink application,
- consistent print quality,
- enduring durability of cylinders,
This technique is particularly advantageous for extended print runs and the creation of high-quality images.

Electromechanical Engraving.
Currently equipped with the latest engraving machines and automatic production lines, Tecnogravura boasts an impressive yearly capacity of 40,000 cylinders within the group.
By adopting electromechanical engraving in the 1980s, Tecnogravura underwent a technological shift that confirmed our innovation-forward methods in the engraving industry. The transition from chemical engraving to
this system offers distinct advantages, such as meeting high-quality demands, ensuring process stability, achieving faster engraving lead times and making significant contributions to environmental considerations.
Committed to delivering unparalleled engraving quality, Tecnogravura continually embraces cutting-edge technology to offer the highest standard of craftsmanship. Leveraging the advanced capabilities of the Xtrem engraving and HQH system, we bring HD engraving to the forefront of precision and clarity.
Xtrem Engraving sets a new benchmark in the industry, achieving remarkable contour definition paired with superior print density. By decoupling write resolution from screen selection, this innovative process enables the fusion of ultrafine resolutions with generous ink application volumes. Widely acclaimed for its versatility, XtremeEngraving excels in replicating intricate details such as logos, barcodes, labels, pharmaceutical packaging, micro lettering, security features, and cigarette packaging with utmost fidelity.
Enhancing the legibility and aesthetics of fine text and graphics, HQH (High Quality Hinting) revolutionizes the printing experience. Departing from traditional manual corrections, HQH automates the optimization process by meticulously analyzing engraving data and adjusting fine lines and text according to preset criteria. This ensures that fine text remains crisply legible, while small graphics retain their integrity during printing.
The most important step is where the design meets the carefully prepared cylinder after several preliminary steps.
A small diamond stylus mounted on the engraving head is the star of the engraving tool. While the cylinder rotates at a constant speed, the slider guarantees a consistent distance between the gravure cylinder and the diamond.
To engrave the cells, the vibration level of this oscillating movement is shifted in the direction of the cylinder. The data source supplies the image-dependent digital signal, which controls the stylus’s penetration depth in the cylinder’s copper surface. The diamond stylus then meets the copper surface, cuts recesses into the material and creates cells of different depths by removing the material. Throughout the entirety of the cylinder preparation and engraving process, rigorous controls and tests are systematically applied to ascertain the highest level of quality.

Validation.
We also verify the accuracy and quality of the engraved image before full-scale production through the execution of hard proofs.
